Malaria, pollution, foreign language, pickpockets, axe murderers, torrential sleet/rain/sun, prostitutes, rainforest, ruins, volcanoes, literally crazy people... CAN WE SURVIVE?

We There

I´ll try to keep everything short since it never seems as exciting if you aren´t actually here...

We met our first Ecuadorian in the CLT airport and she gave us her family´s name and number in Ambato - so we might even stay with them later in the trip!

Breakfast today was the most wonderful thing you can imagine: fruits and whipcream, blackberry juice, sandwich, coffee... too good.

We´ve already gotten pretty lost and couldn´t remember our hostel name, but we eventually figured it out.

Got ripped off by our first cab, but now we know.

We ran into a random Christmas parade today which featured all of the holiday favorites: Jesus, Mary, three wise men, Baby Bop (from Barney), Care Bears, gorillas, crying kids, and near the end something that appeared to be a giant snake comprised of the ¨Rat Pack.¨

We´re feeling good, making amigos, and gettin´ some good ol´fashioned culture.

Yay! You guys seem to be having fun. They really do try to rip off white people down there so haggle with your drivers! You should not spend $10 in the city of Quito for a cab. EVER.

There are so many different juices! Watermelon was kind of watery for my taste but I give you guys mad props for blackberry juice as blackberries are my favorite fruit.

And I think this will become my favorite blog. Post often!
